The field has been set for the DICK’S Sporting Goods High School Nationals as it returns to New York City for the second-consecutive year. This year, all eight of the boys teams that were selected to play in the seventh-annual high school basketball tournament are ranked in the USA Today Super 25 national rankings. This year’s pool will also include a total of six state champions.
The field includes, undefeated and No. 1 ranked Oak Hill Academy (VA) and the defending 2014 tournament champion No. 2- Montverde Academy (FL). Three teams that earned state titles this year, including, No. 5 -Blanche Ely High School (FL), No. 6 – Wheeler High School (GA) and No . 17 – Greensboro Day School (NC). Also included in this year’s field is New York City Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL) Champion No. – 19 Wings Academy (NY), who defeated Jefferson last Saturday in Madison Square Garden for the PSAL crown. Rounding out the field are No. 7 – Huntington-St. Joseph Prep (Huntington, WV) and No. 8 – Findlay Prep (Henderson, NV).
The three-day, single-elimination tournament begins Thursday, April 2, at 12 p.m, with the games airing live on ESPNU. The action continues on Friday, April 3, at 11 a.m. from Christ the King High School, with games being aired live on ESPN2. On Saturday, April 4, competition shifts to Madison Square Garden, where a champion will be crowned with the nation watching ESPN at 12 pm.
