The Golden State Warriors have already taken a 1-0 lead on the New Orleans Pelicans in the first round of the 2015 NBA playoffs, but we took a look at the former prep stars from our coverage area who already have had an impact and will continue having an impact on this series’. There are three “area” players playing for the Pelicans, who are trying to pull off the upset against the West's first seeded Warriors. Tyreke Evans, a Chester, Pennsylvania native, played his prep ball at American Christian, which is minutes outside of Philadelphia. Dante Cunningham, started his high school career at St. John’s in Washington, DC before transferring to Potomac in Prince George's County Maryland. Jimmer Fredette played high school ball at Glenn Falls High School in Glenn Falls, New York

The Warriors lone area player, James Michael McAdoo played his high school ball at Norfolk Christian in Norfolk, Virginia.

Tyreke Evans (New Orleans Pelicans) 6'5 Guard

Hometown: Chester, Pennsylvania

High School: American Christian

2014-15 NBA Stats: 16.6 points | 5.3 rebounds | 6.6 assists

Synopsis: Evans has officially been listed as doubtful for Monday’s Game 2 match-up because of a knee contusion. If Evans cannot play then the Pelicans have almost no shot at stealing one from the Warriors. In the Pelicans 43 wins with Evans he averaged nearly 18 points, just under 8 rebounds and 5 assists. It is unlikely the Pelicans will be able to replace his production. If Evans does play, he will no doubt have to produce at that clip in order to give New Orleans a chance.

Dante Cunningham (New Orleans Pelicans) 6'8 Forward

Hometown: Clinton, Maryland

High School: St. John’s College High School/Potomac High School

2014-15 NBA Stats: 5.2 points | 3.9 rebounds

Synopsis: Cunningham was a mid-season acquisition. He played for Pelicans Head Coach Monte Williams in Portland while Williams was an Assistant. The familiarity with Williams’ system and his reputation for being a team oriented player as well as a positive influence on teammates is why he was brought in. Cunningham started several games for the Pelicans this season, but his biggest impact in this series will likely come in short spurts to bring energy as well as to help slow down the Warriors deadly three-point attack.

Jimmer Fredette (New Orleans Pelicans) 6'2 Guard

Hometown: Glenn Falls, New York

High School: Glenn Falls High School

2014-15 NBA Stats: 3.2 points | 1.2 assists

Synopsis: It is unlikely Fredette will play a major role in the series, but now that Evans is questionable for the tonight and perhaps the rest of the series, Fredette may be asked to step in help relieve Jrue Holiday, Eric Gordon and Norris Cole of some of the ball handling responsibilities. Fredette’s shooting could also play a factor in the series as he may be asked to come in catch fire to help keep pace with Warriors outside threats.

James Michael McAdoo (Golden State Warriors) 6'8 Forward

Hometown: Norfolk, Virginia

High School: Norfolk Christian

2014-15 NBA Stats: 4.1 points | 2.5 rebounds

Synopsis: McAdoo saw the overwhelming majority of his minutes in cleanup time for the Warriors. With that said, the Warriors were well out in the front of the league in average margin of victory at 11.3 compared to the second place Atlanta Hawks at 7.1. So there is a good chance the Warriors will be up by double digits, especially in the fourth quarter, so McAdoo may get more minutes than the casual fan would expect.
